A slightly truncated Christmas for the quartet this year as all of the group were playing in the CAT theatre company’s production of the Wizard of Oz (with Maria as the MD), but as we had a few new Christmas arrangements (again, mostly courtesy of Maria) we couldn’t go through the season without playing them out somewhere.
Fortunately we were contacted by the Duxford Christmas Market to ask if we’d come back and play for them again. We first played at this event in 2013 and enjoyed ourselves so we were happy to go back again.
It was a chilly Saturday afternoon when we arrived at Duxford church and we were very happy to find that we had a nice sheltered spot under a gazebo set up already. We were even more pleased to find that we were to be sandwiched between the mulled wine and the cheese stall – each of which seemed appropriate in its own way.
After our recent recording session we were better prepared this time around and were well wrapped up against the cold. We had a good crowd when we were playing, and we even managed to get some Christmas shopping done.
Duxford have already asked us back for 2015 so hopefully this will become an annual tradition.
